Dear old friends, new acquaintances, and friends: The 115th anniversary "Qian Binsi's Works Reading Club" will hold its first meeting this Saturday! Anyone interested is welcome to join us anytime!
The "Qian Binsi Book Club" was established to carry on the thoughts of Mr. Qian Mu and to allow everyone to understand the rich connotations of traditional culture. For the past fourteen years, the "Sushulou Cultural and Educational Foundation" has continuously provided copies of Mr. Qian's works for free. Every two weeks, everyone gathers at Sushulou to discuss their reading experiences and insights into life.
This year, we selected two books for reading: Qian Mu's "A New Interpretation of the Analects," which he himself valued highly, and the famous "Outline of Chinese History."

"A New Interpretation of the Analects" is Mr. Wang's chapter-by-chapter explanation of the original text of "The Analects of Confucius". After each chapter, a vernacular translation is included to make it easier for modern readers to read. The author started writing the book when he was 58 years old, and he was still revising it until he was 93 years old. This shows that he attaches great importance to this book. The editor personally read "A New Interpretation of the Analects of Confucius" and found it to be approachable and comforting. In academic terms, the editor has also compared the Analects of Confucius and found that Mr. Wang's annotations in the past dynasties are profound and profound. Some of them are compromises, some selections, or new meanings, all of which are reasonable and satisfying. It’s really a pity not to read this book!
"Outline of National History" is one of Mr. Wang's most influential and widely circulated works. It is still an immortal classic of Chinese general history to this day. Needless to say. Interestingly, in the reading group, we will find that many historical facts and issues in the "Outline of National History" can still be compared with today and are thought-provoking. It can be said that "one should learn from the past when looking at the present, and the past will not lead to the present"!

The "Qian Binsi's Works Reading Club" is personally hosted by Ms. Qin Zhaofen, Executive Director of the Qian Mu Former Residence. All are welcome to join; there are no age or prior knowledge requirements. We invite all book lovers and thoughtful readers to participate! Participation is free, attendance is flexible, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Even if you are unable to attend in person, you can participate via online livestream. This year, due to renovations at the Qian Mu Former Residence, we have moved to the easily accessible Boai Campus of Taipei Municipal University. All friends are welcome to join us for reading!
