🌟《Su Shu Lou Blessings》 Qian Mu’s Former Residence wishes all teachers and good friends a happy Teachers’ Day!
In this era, we often hear discussions about education, and the real challenges teachers face are extremely difficult. However, more teachers still choose to stick to the podium, day after day.
In this regard, Mr. Qian Mu once wrote a very interesting, profound and intimate self-narration:

As the saying goes, "Nine out of ten yellow cats are male, and nine out of ten teachers are poor." In today's free capitalist society, poor teachers are hardly valued... So why, then, do some still choose to stay in schools as teachers? Besides admitting their own incompetence, the phrase "following my inclinations" might offer some sarcasm. I have taught for sixty-nine years, finding only a small spot on the podium. I find daily companionship with young students a joy. Confucius himself said, "I never tire of learning, and I never tire of teaching." Zhou Dunyi taught the Cheng brothers to "seek the joy of Confucius and Yan." Yan, with Confucius as his teacher, found joy in learning. Confucius, on the other hand, combined learning and teaching throughout his life. I, too, wish to seek the joy of Confucius and Yan through learning and teaching.

We suspect that what Mr. Confucius relished was the calm and peace of "following my own inclinations," as well as the ease and joy of mutual learning and growth. And as Mr. Confucius once said, the so-called "joyful state of Confucius and Yan" is actually a state that can be enjoyed by all those who enjoy seeking knowledge, learning, and experiencing in life.
On this special day, we sincerely thank and miss every teacher in our lives who has led us to find that joy; we also wish every friend can always maintain the joy of learning and growth on the path of "following my own interests"!
