The Southern Song Dynasty recluse Lu Wengui wrote a poem: "From the highest wisdom of the lunar calendar, one can understand the essence of the Doctrine of the Mean. If one can transcend worldly affairs through emptiness and tranquility, why should one be bothered by the vicissitudes of life?"
