\nMr. Liang Shuming (1893-1988) was an original thinker, educator and social activist in modern China. When he was young, he joined the Tongmenghui, went deep into the people, and personally participated in the rural construction movement. He devoted his life to seeking solutions to modern China's problems from traditional Chinese culture. When thinking about problems, he often devoted himself wholeheartedly to the point of insomnia. He really is, as he calls himself: "a man who thinks and acts with his thoughts".

\nMr. Liang Shuming published this book in the thirty-eighth year of the Republic of China (1949). According to his "Preface", this is his fourth major work after "Eastern and Eastern Cultures and Their Philosophy" (1921), "The Final Awareness of the Chinese National Self-help Movement" (1932), and "Theory of Rural Construction" (1937). book. The issues concerned by the four books are inherently related and continue in a continuous line. They are basically summarized by him as two slogans: "Understand the old China and build a new China". This "Essentials of Chinese Culture" is the author's in-depth development of the goal of understanding old China. At 14:00 on July 23, 111, Qian Mu's former residence invites everyone to pursue Mr. Liang's ideological journey accumulated over thirty years with Mr. Fu Kechang.
