\nMr. Lu Simian (1884-1957) was an important historian and educator in modern China. He is rigorous in his studies and has read the Twenty-Four Histories many times, but he is not satisfied with the textual research of Qianjia and Jia, but is committed to mastering them. He advocated that learning should be combined with reality, and opposed learning for the sake of learning, but he stayed away from politics and remained indifferent all his life. He once stated: "I have set up my own life and always follow the ancient sages and bureaucrats as a model", but he also said that he "deeply admires" Marxism-Leninism. However, as we all know, Mr. Lu is undoubtedly a scholar who is recognized as diligent, honest and well-known. Therefore, these seemingly tortuous thinking and attitudes above actually not only reflect a specific context of the times, but also demonstrate a transcendent life model.

\n"General History of China written by Lu" was written by Mr. Lu Simian during the Anti-Japanese War. It is divided into two volumes and published in 1940 and 1944 respectively. Mr. Lu believes that the general history works at that time included the description of laws and regulations during the long rise and fall of the chaos, which seemed to be lack of order and could not form systematic knowledge. Therefore, this book adopts a unique style. The first volume is dedicated to the social and cultural phenomena in China, while the second volume discusses the changes in political history. Mr. Gu Jiegang once praised this book as "unique in style" and "contains a lot of earth-shattering new theories", which is worthy of its name. Mr. Lu's careful structure and the inspiration brought by his unique historical knowledge make this book not only have the function of guiding students to get started, but also have the value of in-depth study for scholars.

\nAt 14:00 on April 22, 2012, we invite everyone to come to Qian Mu's former residence to read "Lv's General History of China", and follow Mr. Fu Kechang to see how Mr. Lu Simian wrote this book during the Anti-Japanese War from the perspective of intellectual history. In the general history works written under the "isolated island" and the situation of enemy occupation, he entrusted his endless yearning for the bright future of the country and the nation.
