Among them, "Chang" means Dongchang; and "Wei" is the theme of this course: Jinyiwei.

This feared spy agency played a pivotal role in the history of the Ming Dynasty. From the establishment of Zhu Yuanzhang to the end of Ming Dynasty, they were not only the eyes and ears of the emperor, but also the sword to safeguard the emperor's power. However, what is puzzling is that this once powerful institution failed to play a role when the Ming Dynasty collapsed.

The rise and fall of Jinyiwei is closely connected with the rise and fall of the Ming Dynasty. Their existence not only demonstrated the strength of imperial power, but also exposed the fragility of rule. But at the end of the Ming Dynasty, Jin Yiwei seemed to disappear out of thin air, and his whereabouts became a historical mystery. This mystery has led to many speculations: Are they slowly dying out in a power struggle? Or go underground and continue your activities? Or is it quietly integrated into the new ruling structure during the change of dynasties?

On July 6, 2013, Qian Mu’s former residence invited everyone to explore the secrets of Jinyiwei with teacher Li Yifeng and uncover the mysterious disappearance of this secret service agency. The answers to these questions may provide us with a new perspective in understanding the process of the demise of the Ming Dynasty, and also bring valuable enlightenment to the rights and wrongs of spy power.

📆Event time: July 6, 113 (Saturday), 14:10 – 16:00 pm

🏡Event location:Room 611, 6th Floor, Qinpu Building, Boai Campus, Taipei City University

👨‍🏫Activity Speaker: Teacher Li Yifeng

🔔Activity fee: free

🚀Online Course Notes
This online course will be broadcast after the video recording.
