Dear old friends and new acquaintances: The "Book Club of Mr. Qian Binsi's Works" in 114 years will gather for the first time this Saturday! Whether it is your first time to participate or you are joining along the way, as long as you are interested, you are welcome to study with us at any time!
The "Reading Club of Mr. Qian Binsi's Works" is organized to inherit Mr. Qian Mu's ideas and allow everyone to understand the rich connotation of traditional culture. In the past thirteen years, the "Su Shulou Cultural and Educational Foundation" has continued to donate Mr. Qian's works. Every two weeks, everyone gathers at Su Shulou to discuss their reading experience and life experiences.
This year, due to the renovation of Qian Mu’s former residence, we moved the event to Taipei City University. We have selected three important works by Mr. Qian Mu as our annual book list.

"Chinese Literature Essays" collects Mr. Qian Mu's speeches, notes and papers on literature. It is his only monograph with literature as the theme. He has loved literature all his life and strongly encourages everyone to get in touch with and appreciate literature more. He once said: "It is more regrettable not to understand literature than to not understand history or philosophy." The purpose of reading literature is not to become a litterateur, but that in literature we can "come into contact with a higher life that suits me." , to enhance the interest and realm of life. After reading this book, you can understand why Mr. Wang said, "Literature is the infinite comfort in life"!
"A New Interpretation of the Analects" is Mr. Wang's chapter-by-chapter explanation of the original text of "The Analects of Confucius". After each chapter, a vernacular translation is included to make it easier for modern readers to read. The author started writing the book when he was 58 years old, and he was still revising it until he was 93 years old. This shows that he attaches great importance to this book. The editor personally read "A New Interpretation of the Analects of Confucius" and found it to be approachable and comforting. In academic terms, the editor has also compared the Analects of Confucius and found that Mr. Wang's annotations in the past dynasties are profound and profound. Some of them are compromises, some selections, or new meanings, all of which are reasonable and satisfying. It’s really a pity not to read this book!
"Outline of National History" is one of Mr. Wang's most influential and widely circulated works. It is still an immortal classic of Chinese general history to this day. Needless to say. Interestingly, in the reading group, we will find that many historical facts and issues in the "Outline of National History" can still be compared with today and are thought-provoking. It can be said that "one should learn from the past when looking at the present, and the past will not lead to the present"!

We have no age limit and no basic knowledge is required. All interested and thoughtful readers are invited to participate! The reading club is free to attend, attendance is flexible, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Even if you are unable to attend the event in person for some reason, you can still participate in the online live broadcast. All friends are welcome to come and study together!
