Ranghou, a native of Qin during the Warring States Period, was named after he was enfeoffed in Rangyi. His real name was "Wei Ran". Sima Wengong said in "Tongjian" that "to make the princes of the world rule the head and serve Qin, and Qin Yi is strong, Wei Ran's contribution is also", which is a testament to his talent.
