Mr. Lu Simian (1884-1957) was an important historian and educator in modern China. He is rigorous in his studies and has read the Twenty-Four Histories many times, but he is not satisfied with the textual research of Qianjia and Jia, but is committed to mastering them. He advocated that learning should be combined with reality, and opposed learning for the sake of learning, but he stayed away from politics and remained indifferent all his life. He once stated: "I have set up my own life and always follow the ancient sages and bureaucrats as a model", but he also said that he "deeply admires" Marxism-Leninism. However, as we all know, Mr. Lu is undoubtedly a scholar who is recognized as diligent, honest and well-known. Therefore, these seemingly tortuous thinking and attitudes above actually not only reflect a specific context of the times, but also demonstrate a transcendent life model.
"History of the Pre-Qin Dynasty" is Mr. Lu Simian's first "Dynastic History of China", written in the mid-1930s and officially published in Shanghai in December 1941. Mr. Lu is very attentive to the writing genre. This book is divided into two parts. The first half is about the history of the pre-Qin period, from the beginning of the world to the end of the Qin Dynasty; the second half is about the social culture, economy, politics, academic religion, etc. Names, place names, book title index. Mr. Lu has great confidence in this book, "On ancient history materials, ancient history time, the origin and westward migration of the Chinese nation, ancient territories, and eunuch system, he thinks it is very good."
Just as Mr. Lu said in "Lv's General History of China", "The meaning of the whole book is to ask the Chinese people to understand more about the origin of the current situation"; Mr. Lu continued to explain this meaning in "History of the Pre-Qin". He said: "The history is also the one who seeks to understand the reason why the society is. Everything in the universe has its own reasons, and why is society alone?...
