Mr. Lu Simian (1884-1957) was an important historian and educator in modern China. He is rigorous in his studies and has read the Twenty-Four Histories many times, but he is not satisfied with the textual research of Qianjia and Jia, but is committed to mastering them. He advocated that learning should be combined with reality, and opposed learning for the sake of learning, but he stayed away from politics and remained indifferent all his life. He once stated: "I have set up my own life and always follow the ancient sages and bureaucrats as a model", but he also said that he "deeply admires" Marxism-Leninism. However, as we all know, Mr. Lu is undoubtedly a scholar who is recognized as diligent, honest and well-known. Therefore, these seemingly tortuous thinking and attitudes above actually not only reflect a specific context of the times, but also demonstrate a transcendent life model.

From 1925 to 1926, Mr. Lu Simian wrote a special work on the history of thought, but he revised it many times. It was not until October 1933 that it was first published by Shanghai World Book Company. This book is the theme of our June: "Introduction to Pre-Qin Academics". Like the works introduced earlier, Mr. Lu's intentions can still be seen in the style of "An Introduction to Pre-Qin Studies". This book is divided into two parts. The first part discusses pre-Qin academics, including origins, factions, historical background, and research methods, etc.; the second part discusses Taoism, Confucianism, law, alchemy, novels, miscellaneous schools, etc., a total of twelve sources of thought . The whole book is easy to understand, detailed and detailed, and has the distinctive characteristics of Mr. Lu's works - detailed exposition, rigorous research and analysis, and unique conclusions.

Mr. Lu commented on this book in his later years, saying: "Recently scholars who discuss the pre-Qin period focus more on philosophy. This book focuses solely on social and political aspects, which is advisable." At 14:00 on June 24, 2012, we invite you to come to Qian Mu's former residence to read "Introduction to Pre-Qin Academics". Mr.'s research and ideas here.
